Travel — for business, relocation, a major interview, or even a holiday — sets a vector that shapes what the trip produces. Qi Men Dun Jia (奇門遁甲) was originally a battlefield method for choosing the direction of advance. The same logic applies to modern travel: take a step in a favourable direction during a favourable two-hour window, and the trip starts with momentum the configuration then reinforces.

The vector matters more than the destination

In QMDJ travel logic, the relevant variable is the direction you face when you depart, not the literal destination. A flight east from Vilnius to Helsinki and a drive east from Vilnius to Minsk activate the same eastern palace at the same hour — both are "going east" energetically. Once you are physically moving in that direction, the palace in that direction is the one that governs the trip's character. Multi-leg journeys reset the palace at each major direction change.

Doors to favour and avoid

For travel, prioritise: the Open Door (productive, expansive), the Life Door (long-term gain), and the Rest Door (safe, harmonious). Avoid: the Death Door (stalled or losing trips), the Harm Door (conflict, accidents), the Surprise Door (unexpected disruptions), and the Wounded Door. The "Six Wonders" cluster (Yi-Bing-Ding wonders + the Six Yi formation) amplifies whichever door is active — favourable wonders with a favourable door is ideal; favourable wonders with an ill door makes the bad outcome more pronounced, not less.

Practical workflow for booking

Pick a 24-72 hour band where travel is feasible. Generate the QMDJ chart for each two-hour window in that band. For each window, look at the palace in your target direction (compass bearing from your starting location to your destination, not road distance). Choose the window with the cleanest configuration. Schedule departure to leave during that window — the activation is the moment your body actually starts moving, not when you book the ticket. If you must depart during an unfavourable window, deliberately postpone the trip's important activation (the meeting, the signature, the announcement) to a better window after arrival.
