The Reflector aura — surrounding less than 1% of humanity — is SAMPLING AND RESISTANT. It takes in the energy of every environment the Reflector enters and registers it through completely undefined centres, but it also has a unique resistant quality that prevents the absorbed energy from becoming permanently identified-with. Reflectors sample the field, taste it, reflect it, and then release it back. This sampling-and-release cycle is what makes Reflectors the wisdom-keepers of community — they perceive the energetic health of the people around them more accurately than any other type, but the resistant quality protects them from being defined by what they sample.
What does the Reflector aura feel like to others?
People around a Reflector often describe a strange experience: 'it feels like being known, but not in a personal way — more like being witnessed by the room itself.' The aura's sampling quality picks up everyone's energy at once, and the Reflector becomes a kind of mirror for the collective field. Other people frequently feel calmer in a Reflector's presence, even without explicit interaction, because the aura's resistance does not push or pull at them; it simply samples and reflects. This is also why Reflectors are often the friend or colleague who can name what is going on in a room when no one else can — they have been sampling the entire field while everyone else was caught in their own slice of it.
Lunar cycle integration: the 28-day decision rhythm
Because the Reflector aura is continuously sampling the environment, its perception of any given choice changes day to day as the surrounding energetic field shifts. A decision that feels right on a Wednesday may feel completely different by the next Wednesday — not because the Reflector has changed their mind, but because the aura is now sampling a different configuration of community energy. This is why the classical Reflector decision strategy is to wait a FULL LUNAR CYCLE (~28.4 days) before any major commitment. The Moon transits through every gate position the Reflector's chart contains over the cycle, and the Reflector experiences how the decision feels under each transit. Only across the full cycle has the aura sampled enough variance to discern whether the decision feels consistently right or whether it was shaped by a single passing influence.
Community quality as Reflector destiny
The most consequential implication of the sampling aura is that WHERE A REFLECTOR LIVES AND WHO THEY SPEND TIME WITH directly determines their experience of life. Other types can survive bad environments more easily because their defined centres filter and resist what the field tries to impose. Reflectors have NO defined centres — every centre is open and conditioning, and the aura's sampling is continuous. A Reflector embedded in a healthy community samples health and reflects it back as wisdom. A Reflector embedded in a toxic environment samples toxicity and reflects it back as exhaustion and disappointment. The resistant quality of the aura prevents permanent identification with what is sampled (which is what protects the Reflector from collapsing into the surrounding field), but it does not prevent the somatic accumulation of long exposure. Choosing surroundings deliberately is not lifestyle preference for a Reflector; it is the primary act of self-care, and the aura mechanically requires it.
